Media twisting my statements, says CM H D Kumaraswamy
BENGALURU: Two days after he wept in public over ‘swallowing the pain of a coalition government’, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy slammed the media on grounds that his statements were twisted to portray his ire at the Congress for throwing spanner in the works. “I never called you. I am just doing my work. If you are going to twist facts, you can report as you wish. I don’t even want to speak to you” was how he vent his ire at the media during his visit to his home constituency, Ramanagara, on Monday. Lamenting the fact that the media was unfair to him, the Chief Minister remarked: “As a matter of fact, the coalition government is giving so many good programmes. For reasons best known to you, you are twisting statements,"
On Union Minister Mr Arun Jaitley dubbing him “tragedy king,” the Chief Minister remarked “He is working under a robust leader. What has that robust leader has done for farmers? As a tragedy leader, I have waived Rs 40,000 crore farmers' loan. Has Mr Narendra Modi done that?" he queried. Taking a dig at leaders of the state unit of BJP, Mr Kumaraswamy said he need not take lessons or accolades from them. "Last time, I took their support and became the Chief Minister. Within two months, they levelled Rs 150 crore bribery allegation against me. Now, what else they can say?
During the last two months, I have been working hard to provide good administration. I wanted to become the Chief Minister with blessings of people. That did not happen. Now, with God's grace, I have become the Chief minister. I am trying to do good work. However, from day one, instead of appreciation, I am being criticised. I increased fuel price once and everyone pounced on me. Mr Modi increased it nine times and no questions are asked. I became a little emotional. That's all, and the media twisted everything," he added.
