Hyderabad: APP arrested for taking Rs 10,000 bribe

Mr Reddy was arrested and produced before the ACB special court.

Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught P. Sriram Reddy, additional public prosecutor at the second special sessions court, Ranga Reddy district, red-handed while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in order to facilitate grant of anticipatory bail to the client of the complainant in a dowry case.

Mr Reddy was arrested and produced before the ACB special court. Mr Reddy was caught taking the briber in his office located within the court premises at LB Nagar on the city’s outskirts.

The complainant was advocate P. Indra Kumar from Secunderabad. The complainant had asked Mr Reddy to facilitate grant of anticipatory bail to his client in Crime No. 99/18 under IPC Sections 498 (A) (cruelty), 342 (wrongful confinement), 324 (causing hurt), 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) read with Section 34 (criminal acts by several persons with common intent) and Sections 3 (abetting dowry) & 4 (demanding dowry) of Dowry Prohibition Act of Alwal.

The ACB has appealed to the public to contact the bureau on the toll-free number 1064 in case they faced demand for a bribe.
