Belagavi: The Prisons Department shifted three prisoners, who had allegedly given information about illegal activities within the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to DIG D. Roopa Moudgil, to Hindalga central prison in Belagavi on Sunday evening.
Highly-placed prison sources said that Anantha Murthy, Babu and Long Babu are among the prisoners shifted to Hindalga prison.
Sources at the Hindalga prison said that jail authorities were already under pressure to handle several notorious underworld gangsters who often indulged clashes inside. Including 29 inmates who are on a death row, about 900 inmates are already inside Hindalga jail. Associates of late forest bandit Veerappan, 11 members of the Dandupalya gang and several underworld gangsters, including Bannanje Raja and associates of Chhota Rajan are in the Hindalga prison for several years now.
