Hyderabad: A youngster from Mallepally attempted suicide after recording a selfie video saying that he was fed up with his life.
Sahir Madani, 20, a degree student, consumed poison at his house and was rushed to a hospital. In the video recording he made, the youth stated that he had sacrificed a lot for a particular person, but all his efforts were in vain.
Police suspect that the youth was depressed following a break up with his girlfriend. Sahir is in a hospital, where doctors said he was recovering.
“I wanted to say, never make any sacrifices for others. You should always think of your family and be with them. I have suffered enough and I cannot take it anymore. I am gonna quit my life,” said Madani in the short video, which was recovered from his phone later.
The incident occurred in his house at Habeeb nagar when his parents were away for some function.
“He recorded the message in his phone then drank poison. His parents found him and took him to a hospital,” said a police officer from Habeeb Nagar station.
Cops are now waiting to talk to Sahir to get to know about his motive behind the suicide attempt.
“We suspect it was a love affair that pushed the boy to attempt suicide. But we need to also verify if there were any other issues involved that led to this,” said the officer.
