Ashada, Cabinet expansion not linked: Siddaramaiah

CM says it will be done after discussion with Congress High Command, to visit New Delhi shortly.

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday asserted that there was no connection between the ongoing month of Ashada-considered inauspicious- and the proposed cabinet expansion.

It would be carried out soon after a discussion with the Congress high command, Mr Siddaramaiah said.

The Chief Minister was speaking to mediapersons near his residence at Sharadadevinagar, here on Sunday morning.

Mr Siddaramaiah said, “I have not yet spoken to the high command on cabinet expansion. The final decision will be taken after a discussion with the high command. I will visit New Delhi in this regard shortly and will hold discussions.”

On DIG, Prisons, Ms Roopa’s charges of irregularities at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru, the Chief Minister said, “The state government will not tolerate any officer who indulges in indiscipline. We have already ordered an inquiry by retired IPS officer Mr Vinay Kumar into the issues pointed out by Ms Roopa. If any irregularities are mentioned in the inquiry report, appropriate action will be taken,” he said.

Asked about allegations of evidence being destroyed in the case, the Chief Minister said, “We have ordered an inquiry into that too.”
