“They were challenged but they opened fire which was retaliated killing the trio,â€a defence spokesman said in Jammu.

SRINAGAR: Army on Saturday said that three militants were killed by troops while foiling their attempt to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.
It said that the troops guarding the border spotted the militants’ group having tampered with the border fence in Saujiyan area of Poonch early in the morning. “They were challenged but they opened fire which was retaliated killing the trio,” a defence spokesman said in Jammu.
The spokesman Colonel S.D. Goswami termed the killing of infiltrating militants as “a major success” and said that the troops “spotted and traced the movement of terrorists through precise surveillance and kept tightening the cordon leaving no escape route for them.”
He added, “It was a flawless surgical operation executed by the Army ensuring neutralization of all the terrorists who dared to cross the Line of Control, without any casualty of own brave soldiers”.
