Need three months to study Cong’s LS poll rout: VR Sudarshan
Bengaluru: Senior Congress leader V.R. Sudarshan, who is leading the team constituted to analyse the party's rout in the Lok Sabha polls, said that his team may take at least three months to complete the exercise and give a report.
Talking to DC, Mr Sudarshan, who led similar panels in the past, was not so optimistic about the final result. “In the past, I did carry out similar exercises. We gave many reports but nothing substantive happened on the ground.” However, as a loyal Congress soldier, he is still hopeful that the party might wake up this time when they give a report and implement the recommendations. “Political circumstances have changed drastically and if we don't wake up now, there will be no future for us. Initially, I was reluctant because they did nothing on our reports in the past. But as a loyal party man, I feel sad about what happened. In the interests of the party, I decided to give it a try one last time.” Asked how he would approach the task of analysing the defeat, Mr Sudarshan said that his team plans to spend a day in each LS constituency and every week the team plans to visit at least three LS constituencies. "Every LS constituency has seven or eight assembly segments. We will hold assembly-segment wise meetings. Then we will call the losing or winning candidates to get their feedback," he said.
When his attention was drawn to the sabotage or senior leaders not working for the party candidates, he said these issues would be looked into. "I know leaders will come up with allegations or counter allegations. But, they have to give substantive evidence to prove their allegations if anyone makes charges against our local leaders," he said.
