Alappuzha: Financial dealing of Soumya Pushpakaran, 34, the murdered woman civil police officer (CPO), with the accused Ajaz, 33, led to the horrific crime, says her mother A. Indira.
She told DC that she had borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh for the constriction of their house a couple of years ago. Though she returned the money, he refused to accept it.
Once she tried to credit the amount in his account, that too failed. "Later, I went along with her. But he refused to accept the money. Since then, she cut his contact. His problem began when she stopped answering his calls.," she said.
C. Rajan Babu, sub-inspector, said that they were unable to take his statement as his condition continued deteriorating. He was admitted to the Medical College Hospital here with 40 per cent burns.
"We got no complaint about a previous murder attempt. Her relatives also did not tell us about such an incident," he said.
The victim's relatives said they were waiting for her husband Sajeev to decide on her funeral.
Sajeev had returned to the Gulf after leave twenty days ago.
The traffic cop in a planned attack on Saturday knocked her down on the road right in front of her house, hacked with a sword as she tried to escape and set her ablaze.
He was her drill instructor during her training at Kerala Police Academy, Thrissur in 2013.
