Adilabad: Tribals stage protest against forest officers

Godam Ganesh pointed out that forests survived only in the places where Adivasis were living while in other places the forests were destroyed.

ADILABAD: The Adivasis took out a rally against the harassment by forest department staff in Utnoor on Sunday. After the rally, they submitted a memorandum to forests officials on the harassment.

While addressing the rally, Thudumdebba Adilabad district vice-president Godam Ganesh said they would not allow the entry of forest officials in their villages and would pass unanimous resolutions on this in gramsabhas if the forest officials continued to harass them.

He said the state and central governments had hatched a plan to evict Adivasis from the forests and donate the land to industrialists and MNCs at cheaper prices without bothering about environment pollution and damage caused to the livelihood of Adivasis.
