Hyderabad: 24 illegal structures demolished

A separate force for city lakes and GHMC assets protection is also to be formed within the new disaster management wing.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has razed as many as 24 structures as a part of a demolition drive. The corporation officials have demolished 10 dilapidated structures, nine unauthorised constructions and five nala encroachments after the inception of disaster management, vigilance and enforcement wing.

The government has appointed an IPS officer as director of the disaster management, vigilance and enforcement wing with the force including an additional superintendent, deputy superintendent, two inspectors and two S-Is, the GHMC.

A separate force for city lakes and GHMC assets protection is also to be formed within the new disaster management wing.

Efforts were on also to procure required paraphernalia for monsoon and disaster management and for the first time, a special manual on the role and responsibilities of different departments during the disaster management in the city has been prepared.
