Stuck' monsoon making heat rise in Telangana
Hyderabad: Wondering about the rise in day temperatures? Blame the static south west monsoon.
The weather department said maximum temperatures in Telangana have been recorded at 3-4 degrees higher than the normal in June because the monsoon winds were not moving into the state.
Over the past three days, there has been a sudden rise in city temperatures. June 13 recorded 33.7°C, while June 14 saw 37.8°C and 15th recorded 37.3°C. On June 16 it was 37.3°C. Records show a four degree rise against the normal of 33.7°C.
The highest was recorded at Adilabad and Ramagundam — 41 degrees, 4 degrees higher than the normal. IMD officials said once there is further advancement of the monsoon towards Telangana, the accompanying winds will bring down the temperature.
Meanwhile, the monsoon has reached Karwar, Gadag and Ongole where it's currently hovering and in a stable state. But it could advance into all of Rayalseema, coastal Andhra and reach a few parts of Telangana in two to three days, said the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad.
