Viveka murder case: Avinash Reddy moves SC for directive to HC

Anantapur: Kadapa YSRC MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy, seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case, has again approached the Supreme Court.

This time, he sought a directive from the SC to the Telangana High Court vacation bench to consider his bail petition on an emergency basis. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachood, directed Avinash Reddy’s counsel to submit a letter and the court would look into it and take a decision.

His counsel informed the court that the anticipatory bail application of Avinash Reddy was pending with the TS High Court and stressed the need to treat it on an emergency basis.

Avinash Reddy, who had been asked by the CBI to appear before it on Tuesday, had replied that he was having “prior engagements” and would report to it after four days.

He returned to his home town Pulivendula on Tuesday, when he received another notice from CBI asking him to appear before it at the Koti office in Hyderabad on May 19. Speculation was that the CBI wanted to detain or arrest the Kadapa MP and complete the investigation by June 30.

The CBI has informed the court that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with the investigation.

Avinash Reddy’s defence counsel has denied the charge. There existed no evidence against him except for the CBI showing “Google records” to take out a confession statement from Sk Dastagiri, an accused who was allowed to become approver.
