Ooty: Governor to unveil Ooty flower show

The flower show which became a three-day affair since 2009, has now evolved into a five-day affair from 2018.

Ooty: Security has been beefed up in the hills as Ooty is gearing up for the five-day annual flower show which begins from Friday, to be inaugurated by Governor of Tamil Nadu, Banwarilal Purohit.

Traditionally, the flower-show weekend in the hills heralds that the summer tourist season in the hills here has reached its climax. The flower show which became a three-day affair since 2009, has now evolved into a five-day affair from 2018.

While the governor has already arrived here on Thursday evening, police have enhanced security arrangements across the town.

Though around thousand policemen even from neighbouring districts have landed in the hills for security arrangements and traffic management duties, police administration in the Nilgiris has pressed into service helicoms and drones, at some points for strict vigilance, surveillance and monitoring.
