Political gridlock jams Bengaluru roads

Traffic movement affected as supporters throng party offices. Queen's Road worst hit.

Bengaluru: The resort politics of the Congress party took a toll on motorists on Wednesday contributing to huge traffic jams on busy Queens Road and the adjoining roads.

The vehicles piled up on Jayamahal road near Cantonment railway bridge, Cantonment railway station road and Queen's Road, when cars of Congress MLAs and their supporters began to arrive near KPCC office on Wednesday afternoon.

Adding to the traffic chaos, the buses which carried the Congress MLAs to the Eagleton resort stalled the vehicle movement. Traffic from Jayamahal Road, Cantonment Railway Station Road and heading towards Queen's Road moved in a snail's pace with vehicles of the Congress leaders occupying half of the road near KPCC office.

“It’s pathetic. Be it pre-election or post, the public has to bear the brunt. I should have been in the office by now and see I am still waiting since 20 minutes for the traffic to clear,” said Arun, an employee with a reputed MNC.
