Hyderabad: Man dies while trying to jump house gate
Hyderabad: In a bizarre incident, a goldsmith died of asphyxiation when he tried to jump over a gate to enter his house and the collar of the shirt snagged on the grill.
According to the police, Anand Varma, 40, a goldsmith, had jumped over the gate a couple of times in the past. He tried it again, with fatal consequences, early on Wednesday at his house in Mangalhat.
The victim was survived by his wife and two children who had gone to Indore for the vacation.
His brother told us police that Anand had the habit of climbing over the gate, Mangalhat inspector R. Srinivas Reddy.
“We suspect that he might have tried doing the same. His shirt collar stuck in the grills over the gate and he died,” the inspector said.
A neighbour noticed the body and informed his brother, Kailash Ratanlal Varma, 47, who called the police.
“We rushed to the spot and shifted him to Gandhi Hospital where the duty doctor declared him brought dead,” said the official.
Based on a complaint given by Mr Ratanlal, police booked a case under CrPC Section 174 (suspicious death) and shifted the body for postmortem.
