Hyderabad: City Centre Mall booked for norm violation
Hyderabad: The metrology department raided the City Centre shopping mall at Banjara Hills on Wednesday.
Bhaskar Reddy, assistant controller, legal metrology, said, “We have booked 30 cases during the raids and have seized commodities worth Rs 10 lakh for violating packaged commodity rules. Some of the items seized includes apparels, kids wear, foot wear and toys.”
The seized products had MRPs which were smudged, some did not have name of the manufacturer and importer and some did not even have the customer care number.
A case was also booked against Aromas Chinese restaurant for allegedly charging 5 per cent service tax on the bills as service tax is upto the discretion of the customers, said Bhaskar Reddy.
The official further confirmed that the raids would continue for next two to three days in different parts of the city. The raids started at 11.30 am and ended at about 6.30 pm.
Four inspectors along with Bhaskar Reddy, assistant controller, legal metrology, participated in the raids.
