KPCC alleges graft in medical fee hike
Thiruvananthapuram: The Political Affairs Committee of the Congress has alleged corruption in hiking the PG medical fees.
The 21-member high-power PAC met here on Tuesday also condemned the “brutal” police action on protesting KSU workers.
It said the government was generous enough to allow more fees than what the Kerala Christian Professional College Management Association had demanded.
“We have a hunch that a CPM minister had vested interest in the hike fleecing students,” KPCC president M.M. Hassan told reporters.
“No way the government can wash off its hands passing the blame onto the Fee Regulatory Committee.”
The meeting, also attended by AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik, asked the CPM and BJP to lay down arms and give peace a chance in Kannur.
Former AICC secretary Shanimol Usman and former Kannur MP K. Sudhakaran wanted action against A.K. Mani for trying to prevent Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and former chief minister Oommen Chandy visiting Munnar in solidarity with protesting women plantation workers.
The meeting decided to discuss the issue in detail at Wednesday’s wider executive committee. Meanwhile, the final list of the booth panels will be released on May 30 when the membership campaign ends in the run-up to organisational elections.
