Hyderabad: The supercritical coal-based 5x800 MW thermal power project (Yadadri thermal power project) at Veerlapalem in Telangana state proposed by TSGenco has been given environmental clearance by the Expert Appraisal Committee, subject to some conditions.
The committee said that a written commitment is to be submitted by the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. that it would supply coal with ash content not more than 30 per cent.
The coal should only be transported via railway line. During acquisition of land for the railway line, no displacement would be made. Besides, no groundwater will be extracted for construction of the project.
The supercritical thermal power plant will maintain thermal efficiency as per the technical standards notified by Central Electricity Authority.
Transportation of imported/domestic coal should be made from the port/SCCL mines of Kothagudem through the rail route in tarpaulin-covered wagons.
Either sides of the stream flowing through the plant site, up to 100 metres, should be earmarked for greenbelt, plantation should be raised at the rate of 2,500 saplings per hectare.
The tree species should be of local variety of hardened and broadleaf types. Plantation should be done using 2-year-old seedlings for its better survival.
