Sriperumbudur medico jumps to death

The 19-year-old student from Nagercoil had been confined to his room since the lockdown began

Chennai: A first-year physiotherapy student of Saveetha Medical College at Thandalam near Sriperumbudur allegedly jumped to death from the 13th floor of an under-construction building on the college premises on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old student Andrews, hailing from Nagercoil, was staying at a room in Iyappanthangal area in Chennai. He had been confined to his room since the lockdown began.

On Wednesday evening, he rode his motorbike to the college, and went up to the 14-storied empty building and plunged to death.

Hospital employees, who found him lying on the ground in a pool of blood, rushed him to the hospital but he died immediately.

Sriperumbudur Police has taken the body to the government hospital for post mortem. The boys’ parents living in Nagercoil have been informed about the tragedy.
