V Hanumantha Rao vows to fast for Ambedkar statue
Hanumantha warned of an indefinite hunger strike if his demand is not met.
Hyderabad: AICC secretary and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao demanded the state government to instal 125-feet statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar at Panjagutta in Hyderabad within a week’s time.
He warned of an indefinite hunger strike if his demand is not met. He also said that he was ready to sacrifice his life for this cause.
Speaking to media at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, he asked why the government removed Dr Ambedkar’s statue three days ago and left Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s statue in the same place where it was which was installed without permission. He termed the demolition as highhandedness.
