Hyderabad: Telugu film actress Poonam Kaur lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad cyber crime police, alleging that some unidentified persons had uploaded morphed audio clips on YouTube tagging her name to defame her and requested the police to take action.
Some audio conversations went viral on YouTube recently, purported to be Poonam Kaur talking about actor Pawan Kalyan, chief of the Jana Sena.
The actress said that the audio conversations were morphed in order to damage her character and some unidentified people were trying to take political mileage.
Speaking to the media, athe actress said, “Some people are trying to target me and a political party for a long time. I have no idea what fun they get by affecting a woman’s life so much.”
She said there were several links to videos on YouTube tagged with her name. “I complained to the police about the online harassment I was facing for the last two years and requested them to take action against those responsible for this and take down the links.”
“Whatever I went through in these two years, I wish that no woman should undergo. It was done by some people just because of their political agendas and spoiling a woman’s life for that is a mistake. I do not know who is behind this,” she said.
A Hyderabad cyber crime police official said they ahd received a complaint from Poonam Kaur regarding the audio conversations in which she was falsely named with another actor. :After verifying the links and taking legal opinion, necessary action will be taken,” the official said.
