Case registered against Kodela Sivaprasad Rao for poll violence

Vijayawada: The Rajupalem police has registered a case against AP Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao and 21 others over the allegations of capturing a polling booth at Inumetla on the April 11.

Sub-inspector Ashok Babu said that Mr S.K. Imam Vali, a resident of Inumetla, lodged a complaint against Mr Sivaprasad Rao and a few others. He mentioned in the complaint that Mr Rao and 21 others intimidated the people to vote for the Telugu Desam and threatened to kill them if they did not oblige.

Mr Vali mentioned in his complaint that one Ganesh Venkata Rao and five others entered Booth No. 160 and triggered panic among the voters. The TD leaders entered the polling booth at 9.30 am on April 11, he said, adding that the TD leaders closed the doors for 45 minutes to intimidate the voters.
