Osmania University Teachers Association plans stir over pension

Each employee will pay a contribution of 10 percent of the Basic Pay plus DA to the scheme with an equal contribution from the employer.

Hyderabad: The Osmania University Teachers Association (OUTA) has decided to abstain from duties from April 18, 2018 until the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to the teachers who were appointed under this scheme which came into operation from September 1, 2004. OUTA also decided to go on an indefinite strike from Wednesday.

OUTA is also planning to book criminal cases against the University authorities for not implementing the new scheme. The state government had issued govt orders to introduce CPS to all govt employees including Universities and local bodies.

According to government orders, CPS is mandatory for all the new employees, who are recruited in or after 2004. Each employee will pay a monthly contribution of 10 percent of the Basic Pay plus DA from his salary to the contributory pension scheme with an equal contribution from the employer.

OUTA had made several representations to the state govt and the University authorities for the implementation of the new pension scheme. The indifferent attitudes of the state and university authorities had forced them to go on the agitation path, OUTA members alleged.
