Kerala Secretariat Employees Association demands probe
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The pro-CPM Kerala Secretariat Employees Association (KSEA) has demanded a detailed inquiry into the complaint filed by an attender in connection with the alleged harassment at the hands of a senior IAS officer. The Association said the authorities concerned should examine the charges and take appropriate action against the officer concerned.
The Dalit employee of the Secretariat had complained to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan about the constant harassment he faced from GAD principal secretary Biswanath Sinha. The GAD secretary had refuted the allegations. Mr Sinha had told some regional news channels that the chief minister’s office had not sought any explanation from him on the matter. The KSEA said the move to unilaterally shift the complainant from GAD without the completion of inquiry, was against the principles of natural justice.
The Congress led association submitted a representation to the chief secretary to resolve the issue amicably and redress the grievances of the staff. In his complaint, Devadas had alleged that Sinha makes him remove food waste from his table after lunch, asks him to clean the food waste from his tiffin box and sometimes he sprinkles water on the table and asks him to clean it up.
He also alleged that he was finding it difficult to cope with the stress and humiliation by the IAS officer. He said the officer also had the habit of tearing paper, throwing all around the floor and asking him to clean up the room. On several days, Sinha has made him sit in office for late hours.
