HC notice to Eshwarappa
The High Court on Monday ordered notices to K.S. Eshwarappa, a BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Council, and others in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The court was hearing a petition by advocate B. Vinod, who has accused Eshwarappa, his son and daughter-in-law of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income during 2006 and 2010.
Earlier, Eshwarappa had approached the high court, seeking quashing of the proceedings, saying that no prior sanction for prosecution was obtained from the complainant.
In another round of legal battle, the court had directed the Lokayukta court to follow procedures as per law only after recording the sworn statement of the complainant.
Eventually, after due procedure, the Lokayukta court had dismissed his plea. Now, in the latest plea before the high court, Vinod challenged the lower court order dismissing his plea against Eshwarappa.
