Complaint against chillies mill in Hyderabad colony
Hyderabad: Residents of Srinivasa Nagar Phase-I in Chintal have complained to the Telangana State Pollution Control Board against the pollution emanating from a red chillies flour mill in their residential colony.
Members of Srinavasa Nagar Welfare Association said that residents have also complained about the health problems caused by the very strong powder emitted by the grinding of red chillies, flour dust and other products, resulting in suffocation for children, respiratory disorders and skin rashes.
Srinivasa Nagar Welfare Association general secretary Mohammad Jahangir said, “We have been getting complaints from the residents against this mill that is causing a lot of health problems. So we decided to take up this matter with the TSPCB and to seek immediate action against the mill.”
He added, “This is happening due to the recklessness of the mill. They are also storing a large quantity of red chillies.” Dr Vishwanath Gella, consultant pulmonologist said, “Staying close to red chillies mill can lead to the worsening of asthma, breathlessness, and suffocation. In patients who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders this can lead to respiratory failure.”
An official of TSPCB said, “The complaint will be investigated.”
