Hyderabad: Hyderabad traffic police on Saturday registered a case against Union minister of state for science and technology Y.S. Chowdary’s son for rash driving at Banjara Hills.

Sri Karthik was allegedly driving his Porsche in a rash and negligent manner near KBR Park on Friday midnight. He gave the police a slip when they tried to stop his speeding car, but the cops caught up with him after a brief chase, booked him and confiscated his car. Mr Karthik is set to get married next week.

Cops also booked 13 other people during the special drive. Chowdary said that his son had been implicated in the case. “They (cops) did not have a speed gun to measure the speed of the vehicle. Just because the car looks posh and it makes a little extra noise, the police stopped my son and booked a case against him,” he said. Banjara Hills traffic police was conducting a special road safety drive on Friday night when Mr Karthik was booked.

"He was moving towards Jubilee Hills check post from the KBR Park gate. He was driving so fast that when we tried to stop him initially he just drove away. He then tried to take a U-turn near the check post, where we stopped his car,” said Banjara Hills Traffic Police Station inspector N. Vidya Sagar.
