Neta care: No exam fear for these colleges in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Friday’s raids on 11 PU colleges offering integrated courses by the CID investigating the recent question paper leaks, have created quite a stir as many of these institutions are either un by the politicians or have children of politicians on their rolls.
Among the colleges raided, Royal Concorde College in Kalyan Nagar in the city is run by senior Congress leader, LR Shivaramegowda who is also the president of a private schools and colleges union in the state.
“These are very powerful colleges. One of the colleges raided in Mangaluru is known for admitting relatives of politicians. This year too around seven students of the college who are studying in II PUC are from political families,” said an officer from the education department.
The other colleges raided were the Brindavan College in Sanjay Nagar, Expert in Mangaluru, Mahesh in Mangaluru, Narayana PU College in Ballari , Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru.
Deeksha Integrated in Yelahanka and Tumakuru, Sri Chaitanya PU College in Vidyaranyapura and Ballari and Presidency College in Kempapura. While no arrests were made, the CID did get a few vital clues on the question paper leak racket, according to sources.
It was a student from one of these colleges who alerted the state PU department about the Chemistry question paper being circulated on WhatsApp on March 21, they revealed.
“That student had forwarded the leaked question paper to then director of the department, who ordered cancellation of the examination. He was the whistle-blower," said an officer.
Additional Director General of Police, CID, Pratap Reddy, when contacted, confirmed that no arrests had been made following the raids on the 11 PU colleges across the state.
A spokesperson for Deeksha College, said it welcomed the CID investigation as the question paper leak had badly impacted the students. “We will extend our full cooperation to the investigation,” he added.
Tainted teachers for valuation work
Lecturers of the 11 PU colleges, which were raided by the CID, were shortlisted by the PU department for the II PUC final examination valuation work. These lecturers were roped in following the valuation boycott by the government PU college lecturers. But whether these lecturers can be allowed to do valuation work now is the question.
PU Board’s new formula to end stir
The PU board, which met on Saturday, has decided to offer a new peace formula to the agitating PU lecturers. It includes a wage hike and special allowance. The agitating lecturers are expected to accept this offer and return to do the valuation from Monday, say sources.
