Karnataka PU paper leak: CID continues search in private colleges

The CID officials questioned over 300 students post re-examination on April 12.

BENGALURU: The CID officials, who raided 11 PU colleges on Friday in connection with the ongoing probe into the second PU chemistry question paper leak, continued the search in several colleges on Saturday.

The CID officials questioned over 300 students post re-examination on April 12. “After the questioning, it is suspected that the colleges are involved in procuring the question paper in advance and helping their students score high marks. They were doing it to show 100 per cent results, so that they can attract more students and increase the donation and fees,” an official said.

The CID teams, which raided the colleges, are now collecting the details of second PU students. “Their performance in previous tests is being assessed. We have sought score sheets of their internal tests and preparatory exams. It will be tallied with the marks obtained in the final exams. It will help us to know, to some extent, who probably got the question papers,” the official said.

It is said that some of the colleges, which were raided, helped students by giving them the questions and preparing them with answers a day before the exams. The CID teams have detained employees of several colleges and are questioning them.

Bail plea adjourned
The 63rd City Civil and Sessions Court adjourned the hearing of the anticipatory bail petition filed by retired headmaster Shivakumar, the suspected kingpin of the racket, and his son Dinesh till Wednesday.

As the CID officials sought some more time to file objections on Saturday, the judge adjourned the hearing till April 20. Both Shivakumar and his son Dinesh are absconding after the CID officials, probing the question paper leak case, suspected their role behind the racket.
