GHMC plans to sell Urban Land Ceiling land
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government for the first time is planning to organise auction of open lands under Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) within the GHMC area and adjoining Ranga Reddy district.
Revenue officials from Ranga Reddy district have identified 3,449.02 acres of open land under ULC in 11 urban mandals. Of these, 1,366.77 acres are in dispute between government and private parties.
The remaining 2,079.97 acres are clear, and officials would submit a report to the government to auction them for industrial and other purposes. Ranga Reddy district collector M. Raghunandan Rao said the open land under ULC would be considered government land and the government has the authority to auction it.
“Most probably, the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation will be the nodal agency for the auction,” he said. The government is expecting to earn Rs 6,000 crore by selling these lands.
Most of the ULC land parcels lie in prime localities like Serilingampally, Balanagar, Rajendranagar, Malkajgiri, Hayathnagar, Ghatkesar, Uppal, Keesara, Medchal, Saroornagar and Qutbullapur mandals. Sources from the revenue department said that chief secretary Rajiv Sharma had reviewed the matter and a decision was pending with the government.
