Telugu Desam trolled for ‘milking’ bull for votes in video

Netizens observed that the TD was unable to detect the difference between a bull and a cow.

Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam has produced an election campaign video which shows a woman buying a bull with money from the Pasupu Kumkuma scheme, to start a milk business. Netizens have been trolling the TD for making the video showing a bull giving milk and uploading it on social media. The Pasupu Kumkuma campaign video of 1.03 minutes duration allegedly asks the people to vote for TD with a slogan of ‘Mee Bhavishyathu-Naa Badhyatha (Your future-My Responsibility).

The husband in the campaign asks his daughter where the mother is and she enters with a bull and a calf. She ties the animals in front of the house and applies vermillion and turmeric. She explains that she has bought the animals with the money from Pasupu Kumkuma given by “anna” (Chief Minister N. Chandra-babu Naidu). She says “anna” gave her Rs 20,000 under Pasupu Kumkuma and also gave 70 per cent subsidy for the purchase of a cow. Hence she bought them to start a business and save the money for their daughter. The campaign video ends by asking the people to vote for the TD for a stable future.

Netizens observed that the TD was unable to detect the difference between a bull and a cow. Netizen K. Ramana Rao said Mr Naidu was banking on getting the votes of women through the Pasupu Kumkuma scheme. He said, “Bulls offered by CM Naidu will give milk and it will be the eighth wonder of the world.”

Another netizen, S. Raju, said Mr Naidu was confident that the people trust TD blindly, and hence the party was making and releasing such campaign videos. He commented that the present generation was very “smart” due to social media. Hence they would not trust colourful campaigns and would unearth the truth.

The video and photos of the bull used instead of a cow in the TD campaign video have been circulating on WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms. TD leaders have refused to comment on the mistake in the campaign video.
