Kakinada: Polling staff to be given health kits
Kakinada: Election Commission will provide special kits containing ORS packets, medicines for the purpose of first aid such as mosquito repellents, soaps and others.
The Returning Officers will supply the kits to polling personnel on April 10, a day before the polling day on April 11.
District collector Karthikeya Misra has said that the Election Commission has been taking up these steps for the welfare of the polling personnel.
Meanwhile, the authorities have instructed the Returning Officers to provide transport facilities to the polling personnel, along with polling equipment, by distributing it in proper time. The polling personnel should reach the distribution centres by 7 a.m. on April 10 and go to their respective polling centres.
Misra instructed the officials concerned to take special steps to provide transport facilities to the police personnel who will attend duties in Agency areas. He said that the sectoral officers, route officers and polling personnel should take the responsibility for transporting the polling equipment to the polling centres.
The Returning Officers of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies to follow up the election procedures strictly, as per the guidelines of the EC. He said that the officials should clarify each and every step they do in elections and understanding the procedure will help them to conduct polls peacefully.
He advised the officials to establish a help desk at each ROs office while receiving nominations from April 18 onwards and to submit daily reports on nominations. He also suggested them to follow the due procedure while receiving nominations such as filling the Form 26 by the candidates and other security arrangements at the places of receiving nominations. He said that the scrutiny of nominations have to be done on April 26 and allotment of symbols based on the parties, both national and state-level have to be done after the withdrawal of nominations.
