FIR at KPHB police station on mall over parking fee
Hyderabad: An FIR has been filed at the KPHB police station on Saturday against Manjeera Majestic Mall for collecting parking charges from its customers.
Mr Sai Teja, the social activist who filed the complaint, stated, “They collect parking charges from us even before we enter the complex, and promise to refund our money at the time of leaving. However, this is a scam because many customers who are unaware of the parking policy leave the mall without taking their refund. Even I was not given my refund until I questioned them. This is cheating.”
A GO released in March last year says, “No parking fee shall be collected for the first half an hour, which could be extended to one hour if the vehicle owner produces a bill of purchase from the mall or multiplex. In case the vehicle has been parked for more than one hour and the owner produces a bill or movie ticket which costs more than the parking fee, then the parking fee will not have to be paid.”
A KPHB police official confirmed that a case has been booked and said that they will investigate the matter to check for violations. This newspaper tried to contact officials of the Manjeera Majestic Mall but they were unavailable for comment.
