Spilt oil on Telugu Talli flyover puts bikers in danger
Hyderabad: Leak from an oil tanker at Telugu Talli flyover on Friday morning saw around 15-20 bikes skidding though there were no casualties.
People took to social media to alert commuters about the dangerous situation, sharing photos and videos showing the chaos, flooding sites and messengers.
Saifabad traffic police received an alert around 10 am and swiftly swung into action. “The traffic police used sand to cover the oil laden road to prevent any accident. Rain further worsened the situation and traffic came to a standstill,” said Saurav Kumar, a motorist who was stuck in the flyover.
“GHMC workers and traffic officials arrived at the spot with sacks full of sand owing to the oil tank leak. The slight drizzle added to the problem,” said a traffic personnel.
A person with the handle Baluadusumilli tweeted, “Dear all pls don’t take the Telugu Talli flyover at Lower Tank Bund. There is some oil leaked on road and wet due to rain. Almost 20 to 25 bike riders fell down due to bike skid.” This was retweeted.
Hyderabad police later tweeted with a video of sand being spread on the road and said, “Dear citizens, there are pics passing in social media regarding some oil leaked on Telugu Talli Flyover at Lower Tank bund now Issue is Resolved, there is no such problem yet persisting.”
