No report yet on D Cinemaas encroachment

The final report of survey superintendent R Babu in Thrissur was handed over to Collector last year.

Thrissur: Even several months after conducting survey and holding hearings on the compliant of actor Dileep encroaching government land at Chalakudy for setting up his multiplex theatre D Cinemaas, the district collector here is yet to come up with a final report on the issue to the state government. The final report of survey superintendent R Babu in Thrissur was handed over to Collector last year. The vigilance court in Thrissur on Thursday had rejected the report of vigilance department here which had cited that there was no proof of actor Dileep encroaching land.

The court had ordered to register an FIR in the case and to make the actor and former district collector M.S. Jaya respondents in it. Activist P.D. Joseph had filed a complaint with Thrissur Vigilance Court and another plaint was filed with district collector and land revenue commissioner by Santosh of Aluva. Surver superintendet Mr Babu told DC that he had filed the final report to district collector A. Kowsigan nearly four months ago and it was up to the collector to come up with a final report.

The complainant Santhosh and his lawyer Ayub Khan had earlier said that they had submitted 59 documents to back their complaint during the UDF rule and the documents had the complete history of the land that lies in Kizhake Chalakudy Village with survey numbers 680 and 680/1 which was allegedly encroached. “In 1948, it was handed over to a royal family by Thiru Kochi government and there was another renewed order by Kerala government in 1964 which says that after the use by the royal family, the land must be returned to the government,” Mr Khan said.

He has also alleged that the actor encroached land by forging documents. Except one original deed, all the documents presented by the actor were forged, he had alleged. It is also learnt from sources close to the Survey and Revenue Departments in Thirssur that the lack of clarity in the report survey report was the reason for delay in the filing the final report. Collector A Kowsigan is yet to make a statement in the matter.
