GUNTUR: Jana sena founder and cine actor K. Pawan Kalyan has given an ultimatum to the Telugu Desam government to resolve the diarrhoea menace in Guntur and warned that there would be a bandh call given where they would sit on a Deeksha if the government fails to control the spread of epidemic in 48 hours.

He came to Guntur on Friday, interacted with diarrhoea victims undergoing treatment in GGH and consoled family members of diarrhoea victims. He alleged that contamination of drinking water has killed 14 people and demanded announcing medical emergency in Guntur to control the situation. Continuing his tirade Mr Kalyan came down on the government alleging that it had totally failed to supply protected drinking water to the public ridiculing the Arogya Andhra Pradesh slogan of the government.

Mr Kalyan alleged that if relatives of legislators and officials die due to diarrhoea, then they would not be silent. But the government and officials are negligent towards the lives of common people. He alleged that TD is treating people as a ‘vote bank’ and is hence not taking measures for modernisation of primary health centres. He lamented that people’s representatives are also showing negligence towards the diarrhoea issue and that there is no discussion in the Assembly. He said that 14 people have died and 520 other Muslims have been seriously affected due to diarrhoea. He also alleged that the government has failed to quench the thirst of the public by supplying clean drinking water and questioned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu about how he will present Amaravati as a world class city with this.
