Bengaluru: Blackathon for eye donations held

Over 350 visually impaired women from across the state were joined by 30 South India Queen (SIQ) model contestants.

Bengaluru: As part of International Women's Day celebrations, the IDL Foundation organised a get-together of visually challenged girls and women at Cubbon Park on Friday and also held a blackathon where people with normal vision were blindfolded to experience the plight of those without sight.

Over 350 visually impaired women from across the state were joined by 30 South India Queen (SIQ) model contestants. "Empowering the visually challenged,
educating women and bringing them into the mainstream is our goal," said Dr P.K. Paul, founder and executive trustee of IDL Foundation.

The event was organised to spread awareness on eye donation. It had many fun-filled events for the visually challenged women. Visually challenged men too joined the event to show their support. The visually challenged men and women showcased their talent.
