Bengaluru: BBMP Mayor faces citizens' wrath

Locals informed mayor that at local dhobi ghat, people were forced to wash clothes in hand due to lack of any electrical washing machines.

Bengaluru: When Mayor G. Padmavathi went to inspect the historical Kempambudhi Lake in the city on Thursday, she faced the wrath of the local residents for lack of any development of the lake and poor condition of the dhobi ghat.

The Mayor visited the lake as part of her routine developmental review programme. Locals alleged that lake has not been improved even after several representations to the BBMP and other authorities.

They also informed that at the local dhobi ghat, people were forced to wash clothes in hand due to lack of any electrical washing machines.

The Mayor assured the residents that lake rejuvenation works will be taken up in the next 15 days. "Sewage Treatment Plant will be set up to ensure that there is not inflow of untreated water into the lake,” she said.

The Mayor also informed that statue of Lakshmi Devi, daughter-in-law of Kempegowda, which was found in the lake, will be installed in BBMP office.
