Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Saturday approved the upgradation of 6,143 language pandits posts and 802 physical education teachers (PET). A government order said these posts would be now upgraded to school assistant. The pay scale for language pandits and physical education teachers would now range from Rs 28,940 to Rs 78,910.
Mr Chava Ravi, of the United Teacher Federation (UTF) said teachers associations had been demanding the upgradation of these posts from Category III to II from 2008. “In the World Telugu Conference, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao gave his word that he would upgrade the posts,” he said.
The GO issued by the finance department asked the education department to take further action.
