PS Sreedharan Pillai forced to eat his words

The list was neither discussed in the core committee meeting nor in the election committee whose convenor is Muraleedharan.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP national leadership has forced state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai to eat his words on the candidate list for the Lok Sabha elections. National general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao has taken him to task for announcing that he had submitted the list to the central leadership. Mr Pillai has come under the wrath of the faction led by V. Muraleedharan, who along with state secretary K. Surendran stayed away from the core committee meeting held in Kochi on Friday.

The list was neither discussed in the core committee meeting nor in the election committee whose convenor is Muraleedharan.

“The central leadership has been inundated with complaints against the list provided by Pillai. After the core committee meeting, Pillai had to retract his words. He has become a laughing stock for his frequent change of stand on several issues, including Sabarimala,” said a senior BJP leader.

A core committee member, however, denied that the central leadership had censured Pillai. He told DC that the core committee discussed the nationwide programmes envisaged by the central leadership. Kamal Jyoti Sankalp Abhiyan, a national programme for family communication campaign, will be organised at booth level.

Women will interact with the beneficiaries of various central government schemes on February 26. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold video conferences that day with all the booth presidents and each booth president from an Assembly constituency will chat with him.

A mega bike rally would be taken out in all Assembly constituencies in the country on March 2.
