Hyderabad: Keshavapuram project to take off after Cabinet expansion

The government has assured that it would allocate money for the reservoir in next week's vote-on-account Budget.

Hyderabad: The Water Board is all set to begin the construction of the 10 tmc ft reservoir at Keshavapuram. Officials said the board was ready to hold the ground breaking ceremony immediately after the Cabinet expansion, inviting either the urban development minister or the irrigation minister for the programme.

The official said 60 per cent of land required for the reservoir had been acquired. The board had taken possession of 1,585 acres of government land, patta land worth Rs 288 crore and endowment land worth Rs 111 crore after paying compensation. The board had also acquired forest land worth Rs 39 crore.

The government has assured that it would allocate money for the reservoir in next week’s vote-on-account Budget. it has also agreed to pay Rs 826 crore for land acquisition in two instalments.

The official said the board needed Rs 111 crore to build a water treatment plant, Rs 39 crore to get first stage forest clearance and Rs 288 crore to compensation patta land owners, and 50 per cent assigned land.
