Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking allegation, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday claimed that 19 convicts were released on parole recently for carrying out the ghastly murder of Shuhaib in Kannur. At a press conference here, Chennithala flashed the parole documents of 19 convicts including T.P. Chandrashekharan murder convicts Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Soni, Anoop and P.K. Rajeesh.
He said those behind the murder of the youth Congress leader were contract killers released from the jail. Some of the associates of Shuhaib who were with him in special jail recently had revealed that a section of CPM convicts tried to eliminate the youth leader inside the premises. It may be recalled that Shuahaib along with others had been remanded to judicial custody in connection with Congress-CPM clashes in Kannur on January 12. The serious allegations levelled by Chennithala came close on the heels of the revelation made by Shuhaib’s friends. It is alleged that the parole term of those released earlier , had been extended by 15 days for this purpose.
