Police sub-beat' system soon: Dr G Parameshwar

Dr G told media persons that under the new system, a constable would be deployed for each village to keep tabs about crime in the area.

KALABURAGI: With a view to effectively deal with crime in the rural areas, the police department would introduce a ‘sub-beat’ system all over the State, Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar said here on Thursday.

After a review meeting with senior police officials of north-eastern range, Dr Parameshwar told media persons that under the new system, a constable would be deployed for each village to keep tabs about crime in the area.

“He will be a link between police and public. He will not only gather information about crimes, but also help maintain law and order in the villages,” the Minister explained.

As for the long pending demand for setting up a police commissionerate at Kalaburagi, Dr Parameshwar hinted that the government was now not in its favour, as it would require around Rs 30 crore.

“Instead the government will examine the proposal to appoint an officer of the rank of superintendent of police exclusively for the city,” he added.

No cut in Deve Gowda security
Replying to a query, Dr Parameshwar denied the reports that the security cover had been reduced to the former PM H.D. Deve Gowda. On the chances of reinstating former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy to government service, Dr Parameshwar categorically replied that it was a closed a chapter.
