Up to 4 hours power shutdowns in Hyderabad till march second week

The reason being stated is maintenance work.

Hyderabad: Several sections of the city will face two- to four-hour power shutdowns until the second week of March. The reason being stated is maintenance work. The shutdowns will be on in different parts of the city and not the entire city as a whole.

Southern discom director (operations) J. Sreenivasa Reddy said with a view to ensuring uninterrupted power supply during summer, superintending and divisional engineers of the operations wing had been instructed to take up maintenance works on AB switches, earthing of distribution transformers and conductors.

Power demand is expected to go up from 53 million units to nearly 58 MU this year. The maintenance work will help smoothen out problems in power supply during summer, an official said.

“The maintenance works may result in two- to four-hour power shutdowns in some areas of the city. The scheduled maintenance works will be completed by the second week of March,” Mr Sreenivasa Reddy said.
