Hyderabad: A newborn girl’s body was found abandoned on the banks of Saroornagar lake on Tuesday, police said.
GHMC staffers cleaning the lake’s surroundings found the body which was wrapped in a plastic bag. Police said the workers were removing leaves of the blunt arrow head plant from the lake banks as usual.
Around 10.30 am, one of the workers found a yellow plastic bag with a baby inside it. “The child seems to be a newborn and could have been abandoned late at night,” said Saroornagar SI H. Prabhakar. Later, the body was shifted to mortuary for autopsy. A case of concealment of birth and secret disposal of dead body was registered.
