Hyderabad man ends life in mosque
Hyderabad: A 55-year-old man was found hanging at a mosque in the Falaknuma area on Tuesday minutes before afternoon Zohar prayers.
Police said the man, Syed Azam Ali hanged himself from a gate on the premises of Masjid-e-Rehmat-e-Quba in Jahanuma.
The mosque’s moazzan (in-charge), who came to open the doors for afternoon prayers, found him hanging dead and informed the police.
Cops said that Ali was a resident of Kacheguda. He had left home three years ago and had been living in the mosque since then. He did voluntary service at the mosque and at a nearby dargah and lived on the alms given by devotees. He never used to go home.
Around 12.15 pm, the moazzan came to open the doors for Zohar prayers. “When he went to open the gate between the mosque and the dargah, he found Ali hanging from the gate on a rubber belt,” said SI Saidulu, adding that the belt was of the type generally used in machines.
Based on a complaint by Ali’s son Ashfaq Ali a case of suspicious death was registered and the body was handed over to his family after postmortem. “The reason for the suicide is not known. His family is also clueless,” the SI added.
