Hyderabad: Around 40 gazetted headmasters of several government schools staged a dharna in front of the Secretariat at Burgula Ramakrishna Bhavan here on Monday. Joining them in the sit-in protest against GO 317 and the government’s unilateral decision were women employees and teachers.
The protesting teachers said that they had opted for multi-zonal transfers but not heeding to their plea, the government transferred them to another zone, which was unacceptable.
Police swung into action and detained the protestors and shifted them to Narayanaguda police station as a preventive measure.
Meanwhile, additional police forces were deployed at the Chief Minister's camp office and security forces began thoroughly checking vehicles entering Pragati Bhavan.
Recently, the government issued GO 317 to transfer government employees as per the new zonal system and transferred thousands of government employees.
