Kurnool: First-level checking of EVM concludes

Kurnool: District collector S. Satyanarayana has directed the officials to fix sufficient CCTV cameras and to strengthen security arrangements at warehouse storing electronic voting machines.

The collector along with representatives of various political parties and officials visited the EVMs warehouse located in the premises of district administrative building on Wednesday. The collector also examined the new electronic voting machines and first-level checking boxes.

Addressing the media, the collector said that 12,096 ballot units and 9,450 control units, 9,380 VV fats had reached the district. He added that 20 engineers from Bangalore based Bharath Electronic Limited would inspect the total M-3 model ballot unit boxes that had arrived and the control unit boxes and check whe-ther the buttons, reading and other features were working properly or not.

After which, they would put a green stamp on those that were working perfectly and put a red stamp on non-functioning EVMs and ret-urn them to Bangalore, the collector said. The inspection will continue for the next ten days.till the completion of checking of every machine.

Meanwhile, the engineers have checked the EVMs in the presence of former ZP Chairman Mr. A Venkataswami (Congress), Mr. K Nagendra (TDP), Mr. Hanumantha Reddy (YSRCP), Mr. B Nangendra (BJP), Mr. T Shadrak (CPM), Mr. Balaswami (BSP) and other leaders.
