Hyderabad: Disqualified Legislative Council members K. Yadava Reddy, R. Bhupathi Reddy and S. Ramulu Naik on Wednesday said they had decided to approach court against the action of Upper House Chairman A. Swamy Goud.

“When the Congress Legislative Party in the Council has merged with the TRS Legislative Party, then how can the Chairman disqualify us for joining the Congress,” Mr Bhupathi Reddy said while speaking to mediapersons.

“This is a black day in the state. I was unanimously elected in the MLC polls, but not on any party symbol. The decision was taken in a one-sided manner,” he said. Mr Bhupathi Reddy also pointed out that Congress MLCs had joined the TRS but no action had been taken against them till now. “We will approach the court and fight the matter legally,” Mr Bhupathi Reddy said.

Mr Yadava Reddy said, “The regional parties have a single leader and the decision will be taken under his directions. They have not informed me about what I did to be disqualified.”

He said 13 Congress MLCs has voted to elect Mr Swamy Goud as Chairman of the Council. “The Chairman seems to be sleeping and has not taken action against M.S. Prabhakar who joined the TRS from the Congress. The petition has been kept on hold for the last two years,” he said.

“The Chairman has two different laws for the ruling and Opposition parties. They should answer my question about what I did against the party,” Mr Yadava Reddy said.
