CLP meet on Friday, Congress to smoothen rough edges

The Congress Legislature Party meeting presided over by CLP leader Siddaramaiah is scheduled for 3:30 pm on January 18.

Bengaluru: Amid rumours about the Sankranti coup fizzling out, the Congress has convened a meeting of its legislature party on January 18 as part of a twin strategy - first to make a bold statement that all its MLAs are united and secondly, to build a case against the rebel MLAs if they do not attend the meeting.

Asserting that Congress unity was intact, the party leaders dismissed reports which claiming some of the legislator were ready to quit and said that there was no threat to the H.D. Kumaraswamy-led government. "The Congress Legislature Party meeting presided over by CLP leader Siddaramaiah is scheduled for 3:30 pm on January 18 at the Conference Hall of Vidhana Soudha," Mr Siddaramaiah's office said in a statement.

Meanwhile the Congress party issued a whip to all its MLAs asking them to attend the meeting and warning that any failure to do so will attract severe disciplinary action.
